University Family Housing

Student Family

Student Family Housing provides a home for U of T students who have spouses and/or children. The majority of student families live in our buildings at 30 and 35 Charles Street West, which consist of 711 apartment units, housing about 2,000 students and their families.

Student Family Housing offers more than just an apartment that’s close to campus. These buildings feature a rooftop garden, recreation rooms, family drop-in centre, residence life programs and activities to help build a true community.

Eligibility Requirements for Students

University Family Housing is reserved for University of Toronto students actively registered and enrolled in full-time each Fall and Winter term in an undergraduate or graduate degree program and who are living full-time with a spouse/common-law partner and/or have custody of one or two children.

Charles Street

In the heart of downtown Toronto, 30 and 35 Charles Street West are two high-rise apartment buildings where the majority of our student families live.

Huron-Sussex

A historic neighbourhood on the University of Toronto campus where new faculty live, along with a very small number of student families and long-term tenants.

Limited Availability

Huron-Sussex

There are only a small number of one-bedroom apartments in Huron-Sussex for student families. The waiting list often takes multiple years to get an offer and is much longer than Charles Street.

Life at UFH

Residence Life Programming

Since the early 1990s, University Family Housing has provided our residents with a variety of educational & recreational programs, including yoga, dance, language classes, arts & crafts, celebrations, and more. This programming is available to all our residents and their family members for both our Charles Street and Huron-Sussex communities.
