How to Apply

Our lease year runs from August 1 to July 31.

As a result, housing turnover is most frequent in early summer, for later summer occupancy (July, August). Occasionally, housing becomes available at other times of the year (eg. November or December) .

Due to the popularity of this program and the limited amount of housing, we compile an annual application list of applicants.

How quickly one is offered housing depends on a number of factors, including:

  • Position on application list
  • Date of application
  • Appointment date
  • Unit size requested
  • Availability of unit
  • Applicant’s preferred move-in date

Drawing from this list, housing offers  commence in April.

APPLICATION LIST

The 2022 summer/fall application list opened on December 1, 2021. The 2023 summer/fall application list will open on December 1, 2022.

Application List

On occasion, housing becomes available at other times of the year (eg. November, December) and we keep a small and time-limited application list for winter appointees (eg. January 1).

Once we receive your application, we will confirm your place on the application list. Please feel free to reach out to us anytime thereafter if you have changes to make, or to answer any questions you may have.

If you are planning to visit the university prior to commencing employment, we would be happy to speak with you about new Faculty Housing.

You are not obligated to accept any housing and can notify us to withdraw from the application list at any time.

We do not carry over application list applicants from one year to the next.

We also strongly recommend that you become familiar with the Toronto housing and rental market in the event that an offer of Faculty Housing is not made, or in the event that the offer does not suit your needs. There are many resources available on the Internet; another source of useful information is the University’s Faculty Relocation Service. Their website is http://www.facultyrelocation.utoronto.ca
