Join internationally renowned Baltimore-based contemporary embroidery artist Sarah K. Benning for two hours of hands-on instruction exploring her favorite embroidery techniques. Participants will learn satin stitch and couching as well as a variety of surface embellishment techniques to stitch up a botanical design. This workshop is open to all skill levels. About the Artist
Sarah’s contemporary botanical embroidery, characterized by lush compositions full of greenery, pattern, color, and texture have been featured in Martha Stewart Magazine, The Wall Street Journal, The Financial Times, the Evening Standard, and Better Homes and Gardens, among others. Her studio practice is documented in Embroidered Life: The Art of Sarah K. Benning by Sara Barnes and she has partnered with DMC, Oatly, Amaro Montenegro, Flow Magazine, Craftsy, The Crafter’s Box, Quarto, and Chronicle. Her highly sought-after workshops provide a space for participants to let go of perfectionism, slow down and engage in a beautifully methodical and meditative process. She is a firm believer that there is no right or wrong way to make and that everyone is capable of participating in the creative process regardless of profession, education, or previous experience.
