Beyond Perfection: Unlocking Emotional Freedom

November 21 @ 7:00 pm 9:00 pm

Participants will explore how perfectionism holds us back and discover ways to break free from its grip through mindfulness, breathwork, yoga and creative reflection. This hybrid session is led by Pamela Calero, Communication Artist and Visual Storyteller, and Catalina Piedrahita, Music Therapist & Yoga Instructor, creators of the Siéntæte Bien ‘Feel/Sit Well’ wellness deck, which guides individuals through 5 emotional states via yoga poses, breathing techniques, acupressure points, and creative exercises. Originally published in Spanish, Pamela & Catalina will share the knowledge and teachings from their deck in English for our audience.

About the Instructors:

Pamela is a creative director in visual storytelling, branding, illustration, and graphic arts. In her art studio and creative services, she visually shapes complex ideas to simplify projects that aim to have an impact beyond profit. She communicates authenticity through visual storytelling, using a poetic and conceptual approach to give visual form to ideas, with a fun, engaging, and playful style. Holding a degree in Fine Arts and Graphic Design, she also has a Master’s in Comparative Studies in Art, Literature, and Philosophy. Her multidisciplinary approach focuses on storytelling as a pillar to understand and deconstruct what is “normal” or normative. She transforms abstract ideas and emotions into attractive and striking visual forms to connect with sensitivity. Conceptual-linguistic play predominates in her creative practice, where words and images serve as vehicles for storytelling, communicating in a different, fresh, magical, enjoyable, and disruptive way.

Catalina is a music therapist and yoga instructor. She completed her undergraduate degree in business administration and later earned a Master’s in Music Therapy from NYU. At the same time, she studied at the Dharma Yoga Center in New York with her teacher Sri Dharma Mittra, who has been her source of inspiration for the past 11 years. She has worked for the well-being of various populations using music therapy and meditation tools in clinical approaches with intensive care patients and those with long hospitalizations, psychiatric patients transitioning to life outside the clinic, young children and their mothers or caregivers, and companies seeking to improve the mental health of their employees through therapy and coaching. She also leads yoga and meditation classes, focusing on addressing the person as a whole, and offers retreats to help others break out of routine, recharge, and have a safe pace to work on themselves. Regardless of the population, her sensitivity has allowed her to identify needs and recurring patterns in her clients, which fuels her interest in serving others so they can recognize their potential and optimize their well-being.
