30 Charles Annual Fire Alarm Testing & Inspection
Please be advised that all fire alarm devices in the building, including the speakers in each apartment unit, will be inspected and tested from February 3, 2024, through February 20th, 2024 (Weekends and holidays excluded)
Starting on Monday February 5th, 2024, our Fire Alarm contractor, EuroTech Safety, will be performing the Annual Fire Alarm Test throughout the building. We anticipate this testing will take approximately four weeks to complete.
Testing is required to confirm proper operation of all fire alarm devices, as well as intermittent use of the fire alarm paging system, typically on a floor-by-floor basis. Entry will be required into each apartment unit to confirm the operation of the Fire Alarm speakers.
Security staff will be escorting our contractor to each apartment unit, for speaker testing. Pursuant to the Residential Tenancies Act, Section 27, each unit will receive a 24 hour ‘Notice of Entry’ notice, for the testing in your unit. We anticipate that our Fire Alarm Contractor will be able to complete the testing on approximately eight (8) floors per day, and the testing will commence on the 21st floor and proceed down the building. Although it is difficult to ascertain, with certainty, how many units the fire alarm contractor will test, in any given day, the following is an approximate schedule for unit entry and testing:
- Tuesday, February 6th – 9:00am – 12:00pm (Floors 21-18)
- Tuesday, February 6th – 12:00pm – 3:00pm (Floors 17 – 14)
- Wednesday, February 7th – 9:00am – 12:00pm (Floors 12-9)
- Wednesday, February 7th – 12:00pm – 3:00pm (Floors 8-4)
Email updates will be sent each evening to advise residents of the contractor’s progress. The email communication will provide details on which residential floors have completed their testing and which floors are outstanding.
Testing will start at 9:00 a.m. and be completed by 4:00 p.m. each day. Voice paging announcements will be made at the beginning and end of each testing day to keep you informed.
In the event of an actual fire alarm, a voice paging message will be made to all floors to notify residents of required actions.
Please review the details on your ‘Notice of Entry’ form and contact the Residence Office prior to your testing date, if there are any questions or concerns.

Laundry Rooms Temporarily Closed
Please be advised that the laundry rooms in both 30 and 35 Charles will be closed and be unavailable for tenant use on Wednesday, February 7, 2024.
This closure is necessary to clean laundry room ducts.
Please ensure your belongings are removed from the laundry room before the room is locked at 6:00am.

February Unit Renovations at Charles Street
For the month of February, the following floors will have units under renovation. Residents may hear noisy work from 9:00am – 5:00pm, Monday – Saturday.
