Counseling Directories allow you to search for providers based on a variety of criteria, such as price, specialties (e.g., anxiety, caregiver stress, etc.), type of counseling, client age, provider’s race or ethnicity, provider’s religion/faith, language(s) spoken, etc. Here we group directories according to provider fees:

Affordable Therapy Network

Most providers offer a limited number of spots at a rate of $65 or less to clients facing significant financial difficulty. Sliding scale rates (~65-90% of a therapist’s regular rate) are also available.

Alli

A pay what you can (PWYC) counseling directory. Providers’ fee range is based on experience and the scope of their practice, and individuals seeking counseling pay what they can within that range.

Hard Feelings

Limited-term counseling for residents of Ontario who are 18+ and have $1500 or less in benefits to spend on counseling.

Open Path Therapy Collective

Serves uninsured and underinsured clients with an annual household income of less than $100,000.

Student Rates

Discounted rates for registered students at Canadian post-secondary institutions.

PsyVitaliti

Students with UTSU or UTGSU coverage have access to the Studentcare Psychology Network, a group of psychologists who offer their services to students via secure online video conferencing at a preferred rate.

Shift

An online practice with a curated team of over 125 social workers and psychotherapists offering student rates.

A directory of Black, Indigenous, and Other People of Colour (BIPOC) providers committed to supporting individual and collective healing for BIPOC.

Layla

After completing a brief digital intake form, individuals can book a free phone consultation with a Care Coordinator to review their situation, current challenges, and goals for counseling while discussing provider options.

Asian Mental Health Collective

A directory of Asian providers with the goal of normalizing and de-stigmatizing mental health within the Asian community.

Black Therapist List

A directory of Black providers dedicated to providing culturally competent mental health care.

Psychology Today

The world’s largest portal to psychotherapy, available in 20 countries, the directory connects individuals with providers.

Umbrella Mental Health Network

A network of Queer and Trans-identified providers who serve the 2SLGBTQ+ community.

Inkblot

 A directory and automated matching service – prospective patients complete a personalized questionnaire that matches them with a shortlist of therapists to choose from. 

Greenshield Cares: program offers Canadians 18+ who identify as women two free hours of culturally sensitive virtual therapy with a provider through Inkblot and a complimentary subscription to online coach-assisted therapy (iCBT) with Tranquility by Inkblot.
