Huron-Sussex Area

Child Care Resources

University Family Housing does not provide child care, but there are many child care resources available in the area that we have listed below.

Early Learning Centre

The Early Learning Centre (ELC) is a non-profit service within the department of Family Programs & Services in the Division of People Strategy, Equity & Culture. The University of Toronto holds the license to operate a childcare service, and has overall responsibility for the management and operation of the Early Learning Centre.

The OISE location is at 252 Bloor Street West in the Ontario Institute for Studies in Education at U of T building. The Glen Morris location is at 7 Glen Morris Street and is a unique three-storey research and childcare facility just west of Robarts library.

Both student families and faculty members are able to apply for a spot at the ELC.

Family Care Office

The Family Care Office (FCO) supports current University of Toronto students, staff, faculty, post-doctoral fellows and their families with any family care related issue. The FCO has always emphasized an inclusive definition of family.

They provide confidential guidance, resources, referrals, educational programming and advocacy for the University of Toronto community and their families. The FCO raises awareness of family care issues central to the achievement of education and employment equity at the University of Toronto.

Supervising Your Child

Parental supervision is expected and we ask that you never leave your children alone in the housing units, backyards, balconies, decks or in the Co-op’s common areas

Please be aware where your children are playing; prohibited areas include common stairwells and hallways, as well as parking lots, laneways and roadways.

Children need to be respectful of their neighbours, and to their surroundings. While in your unit, please keep excessive noise and physical activities to a minimum.
