Maintenance and Operations Updates

Meeting Room Now Open 24/7

When asked in the 2022 Charles Street Annual Residents Survey if there was interest in having the Meeting Room converted to a 24-hour study space, 74% of respondents said yes. UFH recognizes the need for more spaces outside of apartments for studying or other quiet work and we are pleased to announce that the space will now be open 24 hours a day, 7 days a week.

For those who may be unaware, the Meeting Room is located on the 3rd floor of 30 Charles, next to the Drop-In Centre. This common space is to be used for quiet study or gathering – no parties or events will be permitted. The capacity of the room is 14 people and access is on a first come, first served basis. Food is not permitted, and WiFi is available with the login information posted in the room.

Should you have any questions about the new hours of the Meeting Room, please reach out to us at operationscharles.ufh@utoronto.ca.

Prohibited Appliances at University Family Housing

Residents are reminded that appliances such portable dishwashers and laundry machines are prohibited at University Family Housing.

There are no exceptions for having, installing and/or using any of these appliances as the building water system cannot safely handle the water load from washers and dishwashing machines. Floods have been caused in the past by prohibited appliances, which not only severely damage the building, but your fellow residents’ personal belongings as well.

Although it may feel convenient, please understand the impact these appliances can have on your neighbours. If you have one of these appliances, it is imperative that you stop using the machine immediately. If you are using a prohibited appliance in your unit, you are in direct violation of your lease agreement.

Thank you for your understanding in this matter. Please reach out to us should you have any questions at operationscharles.ufh@utoronto.ca.
