Child Care Resources

University Family Housing does not provide child care, but there are many child care resources available, listed below.

Childcare on Charles

The University of Toronto Child Care on Charles, located at 35 Charles St W., is a well-rated day care operated by George Brown College. Student families living here have first priority to place their children when spaces are available, and fee subsidy is provided for those eligible.

Prospective Charles Street Residence families should put their name on the waiting list well before they need a space. Those requiring subsidy should apply via the City of Toronto Children’s Services website.

Given the waitlist and student residents’ priority status, you are not permitted to keep your children in the Childcare Centre on Charles for more than 3 months after moving out. Upon submitting your notice to vacate, please notify the daycare of your move.

Financial Assistance (Subsidized Spaces)

The Centre operates under provincial license and has a purchase of service contract with the City of Toronto Children’s Services Division that provides fee subsidy for eligible parent/guardians. Parent/guardians wishing to investigate and apply for subsidy must make these arrangements well in advance of the time of registration of their child at the Centre.

Children’s Services has a separate waiting list of their own.

Please refer to the City of Toronto Children’s Services website: http://www.toronto.ca/children/ for more information.
