Become a Charles Street Residence Advisor! A position on the 2024-2025 Residence Advisor team has opened and we’re looking for an eager Charles Street student resident to join the team! If you are a University Family Housing resident that is a full-time U of T student, you are eligible to be a Residence Advisor (RA). The RA work term is from February 1, 2025, to July 31, 2025. Maintenance and Operations Updates

35 Charles Elevator Major Upgrades Complete 

We are pleased to announce that all major repairs and upgrades in the elevator modernization project are now complete, with all three elevators online and in use! 

We want to thank residents for their ongoing patience throughout this project as we understand that having one elevator out of service for a prolonged period was challenging.  

These repairs and upgrades were necessary, as major components of the existing elevators were nearing the end of their lifecycle. By conducting this project now, we were able to proactively improve the reliability and performance of this crucial equipment. 

Residents can expect final improvements to the elevators, including the installation of digital signage and new flooring, in the coming weeks. The work will be conducted outside of peak hours to minimize disruption and assist with traffic levels.

730 Yonge Construction Update 

Please be advised that construction work on the 730 Yonge ground floor construction project has resumed. We have reminded the contractors working on this project that noisy work cannot take place before 9:00am to ensure quiet time for our residents. We have been informed that the expected completion time for this project is August 2024 and will update residents accordingly. 30 Charles Roof Replacement Project 

Please be advised that the 30 Charles roof replacement contractors have been given authorization to continue working on the project on Saturdays. Saturday contractors will continue to abide by the noise restrictions imposed by UFH, with no noisy work occurring prior to 9:00am and between 12:00pm – 1:30pm. 

Building operations staff continue to advocate for the comfort of residents during large projects that can impact the reasonable enjoyment of their living spaces. The decision to allow Saturday work was made to expedite this project’s completion. Residents can expect the roof replacement project for 30 Charles to be completed by the end of April.
