Saturday Literacy Program (Bi-weekly, ages 4–8)

Saturdays, October to December | 10:00am – 12:00 pm | Drop-In Centre

This program uses the power of play to spark a love for reading, writing, and storytelling in young learners. Through hands-on, engaging activities, children build foundational literacy skills while exploring their creativity and imagination. Activities include dramatic play, puppet shows, shared reading circles, and opportunities to create their own journey. Every time you attend, you get a FREE book! Registration is required and the spots are limited.

Building Digital Confidence: Writing, Coding and AI

October 27- November 17 | 5:30pm – 7:00pm | Recreation Room

A hands-on beginner friendly series to help students, professionals and lifelong learners build key skills in online writing with LaTeX/Overleaf, managing literary sources, coding with Python, and using AI tools like ChatGPT responsibly.

English Conversation Circle

October 28 – November 18 | 6:45pm – 8:15pm | Recreation Room

This is a four-session English conversation series designed for residents who want to gain confidence speaking English in real-life situations. Unlike a drop-in workshop, this is a single connected program where participants build on what they learn each week. Each 90-minute session combines short, simple instruction with plenty of conversation time, helping residents gradually expand their vocabulary, fluency, and comfort communicating in everyday Toronto life.

Mindful Pregnancy Program

Mindful Pregnancy is a supportive program designed to guide expecting and new parents through the transformative journey of pregnancy and early parenthood. This program offers practical tools and a nurturing community to help parents navigate the physical and emotional changes.

Backup Childcare Due to Ongoing Strikes

The Family Care Office still has a limited amount of Kids & Company child care passes available for families during this time, please feel free to reach out, whether or not you’ve previously received passes from them. Once they have reached their pass limit, families are still welcome to contact Kids & Company directly and arrange childcare, which is available at a rate of $22 a day for children under the age of six. Please reach out to Family Care directly with any concerns, financial or otherwise.
