New UFH Children’s Programs! 

Parachute Play (Parent & Child, 18 months – 2.5 years) 
March 5th and 19th (2 sessions), 2:45pm – 4:15pm 

Come join us to learn new rhymes and songs as we develop and foster our early language and literacy through songs and games and engage our large muscle skills while using a parachute! This program will be in our Drop-in Centre. Spaces are limited and registration is required. 

Sensory Play (Parent & Child, ages 0 – 2) 
March 7th or March 28th, 2:45pm – 4:15pm (one session per family) 

Come join us for some messy sensory play! Here we will discover why messy play is vital for a child’s growth and development and have some fun while doing it! Please wear appropriate clothing this day to get messy or bring extra clothing! This program will be in our Drop-in Centre. Spaces are limited and registration is required.

Registration for both programs starts Monday, March 4th, 2024, at 9 am. Please be mindful that a recreation account is needed to register, and the account approval process on our system takes 2-3 days, so creating your account before registration opens is advised. 

Family Care Office: Women’s Wellness Series 

Take time out of your busy schedule just for you! Enjoy breakfast and a weekly interactive session with on-site childminding provided. The Women’s Wellness series is an opportunity to pause and pay attention to your physical, mental, emotional, and social wellbeing.  

The Women’s Wellness Series is open to all women – trans and cis – and nonbinary people who live in 30 or 35 Charles Street, University Family Housing. 

The 2024 series weekly interactive sessions will be: 

  • March 6: Wen-Do Women’s Self Defense  
  • March 20: Empower Her 
  • March 27: Mindfulness, Meditation and Yoga 

Registration Required: 
To register, please email family.care@utoronto.ca and include the sessions you are registering for, your name, U of T status (or status of your partner), and the names and ages of your children if you require free childminding. 

March Break Programming at UFH 

Wondering what to do during the upcoming March break? Check out the exciting programs we have in store for the kids of UFH! 

March Break JK/SK Playdate 
March 11th and 12th or March 13th and 14th | 9:30am – 12:30pm | Activity Room, 3rd Floor 30 Charles St. W. 

Join us for fun-filled activities at our Activity Room during March Break. We will provide a variety of engaging indoor play, including gross motor games and crafts. It is a great way to connect and network with other families. Spaces are limited and registration is required. Due to the popularity of the program, please only sign up for either MON-TUE group or WED-THU group. Our Program is free-of-charge and reserved for UFH families only. 

University Family Housing x Family Care Office present Pi Day! 
Thursday, March 14th | 2:00pm – 4:00pm | Recreation Room at 35 Charles St. W. 

Calling all math and science loving families! March 14th (3-14) is known as “Pi Day” after the mathematical constant π or Pi – 3.14. To celebrate, the UFH and FCO teams are coming together with fun math and science games and of course a fun snack of pie!!   

Parents and caregivers must be present, children of all ages welcome. Register online as spaces are limited.
